Se päivittää sittenkin! Paljon on puikoilla silmukoita virrannut, mutta kovin vähän mitään esittelemisen arvoista on valmistunut. Olen tehnyt esimerkiksi kolme pipoa, joista kaksi oli liian suuria ja yksi liian pieni. Liian pienen Koolhaasin saatoin antaa Vintiölle, mutta isokokoiset uroot harvemmin käyttävät Foliagen kaltaisia pitsipipoja. No, pienellä purkamisella saattaisin päästä ihan hyvään tulokseen, mutta jäi se toka, edelleen liian iso pipo sen verran riepomaan, etten ole saanut aikaiseksi. Mutta tässä jotain, joka onnistui.

She updates after all! There has been a lot of knitting but not so many presentable items. For example, I have finished three hats, two of them were too big and one too small. The too small Koolhaas was easy, I gave it to Rascal who liked it a lot, but big macho men hardly ever prefer lace hats like Foliage. I could probably reach an ok result with little ripping and reknitting but I have been that discontent with it that I didn't want it in my sight. BUT, here's something that succeeded very well.

Kuten huomaatte, takissa on turhan lyhyet hihat. Pitääpä ottaa seuraavalla kerralla huomioon, sillä tämän kyllä teen takuuvarmasti uudemmankin kerran.

As you can see the pattern has quite short sleeves. Have to remember that next time as there will definitely be another time.

Claudia on menossa ensi lauantaina naimisiin ja tarvitsi asuunsa shaalin. Johon minä sitten tarttumaan ja tarjouduin neulomaan hänelle sellaisen. Tämä lähti viime viikon alkupuolella Lontooseen. Olen suunnattoman ylpeä; huivista tuli mielestäni tosi kaunis.

Claudia is getting married on next Saturday. She needed a shawl for her dress so I offered to knit her one. This left for London last Tuesday. I'm ridiculously proud; I think the shawl became really beautiful.

Huivi ei ollut mikään yön yli -projekti; aloitin neuloa sitä syys- vai lokakuussa ja sain sen tosiaan viime viikonloppuna valmiiksi. Jouluneulonta tosin viivästytti sen valmistumista kuukauden päivät. Onneksi ehdin kuitenkin ajoissa. Nyt enää jännitämme, jaksaako Lontoon Pate polkea mopoaan tarpeeksi lujaa, että puolitoista viikkoa matka-aikaa riittää. Vielä perjantaina huivi ei ollut saapunut määränpäähänsä.

The shawl was not a project for instant gratification. I began knitting it in September/October and finished it last weekend. Well, Christmas knitting delayed the finishing by a month. Fortunately, I managed to squeeze it in time. Now the excitement is there whether Postman Pat will be able to deliver the shawl in one and half weeks. On Friday it hadn't arrived yet.

Viimeinen kuva, vaikkakin suttuinen ja pimeä, on onnistuneempi langan värin suhteen. Tarkemmat, värittömämmät kuvat räpsin työpaikalla ennen shaalin pakkaamista. Täytyy jatkossakin muistaa tehokkaan toimistovalaistuksen edut neulekuvauksessa!

The last photo, however blurry and dark it might be, shows the colour better. The sharper and more colourless photos I took at the office before packing the shawl. I have to keep the benefits of efficient office lighting for knitting photography in mind!

Another great mail day. I won in Breibeest's blog contest. The prize arrived today: yarn, lovely Dutch sweets and a surprise to Rascal. That's still unopened, he'll open it when he gets home.

I received the final package of my Secret Pal 11. As soon as I got the big box in my hands at the post office I realised this was going to be something really grand. Made haste, got home and immediately opened the box. Someone else was interested, too.

Sain viimeisen Secret Pal 11-vaihdon paketin. Se oli täynnä ihanuuksia ja lämpöä.

First thing to get my attention was the wonderful scent from the small (homemade?) gingerbreads. What a lovely idea! I'm munching them as we speak.

Chocolate, too, as well holiday reading and ideas...

Warmth and light to nothern darkness. Please note the Edelweiss flowers on the candle; I thought they gave an excellent hint of my SP's whereabouts.

And last but not least; yarn. Tausendschön sock yarn and two skeins of lace weight single ply from Uruguay, from handpaintedyarn.com, I suppose.

My SP is Austrian and from Vienna, one of the really favourite cities I have visited (not that they would be so many). I've been there twice and the second time was exactly two years ago. It was then I lost my heart to the place; Vienna in Christmas time is amazing. And so was my Pal. A mere thank you sounds so lame, but thankful I am.

Kävin perjantaina joulumessuilla. Lupauduin Catariinan avuksi Angorinan myyntipöydän taakse, mutta olihan minulla aikaa vähän ympärillenikin katsella... :D Blogi-ihmisiä en kovin monia nähnyt, vaikka myyntipöytänsä huomasinkin; Mielityn ja Pörrön ständit muun muassa. Juulin lankoja etsin erityisesti ja löysinkin, jonkun verran ostin myös mukaani. Oli kiva päivä messuilla ja Catariina myyntipalkkiossaan suorastaan avokätinen. Kiitokset!

I went to a traditional Christmas fair on Friday. I promised to help Catariina a bit at the Angorina stand and of course I managed to look around a little bit, too. I didn't see very many blog people but I saw their stands, though. I was specially looking for Juuli's yarn and found them (and her) too. It was a nice day at a fair and Catariina was more than generous in her compensation for the little time I spent selling. Thank you so much!

Angorinan värjättyä kampalankaa huivitarpeiksi. Sain myyntipalkkiona tämän ja pienet angoralapaset Vintiölle. Lapaset olivat valitettavasti kuvaushetkellä ulkoilemassa kurahanskojen sisällä. - Dyed Angorina comb wool for a scarf.

Juulin käsinkehrätystä ja -värjätystä villalangasta tein lapaset. Pihinä ostin vain 50 g, joten tein resorit seiskaveikasta. Puikkoina 3,25 mm.

I knitted mittens of Juuli's handspun and handdyed wool. I was stingy and bought only 50 g so I knitted the cuffs with wool blend 7 veljestä.
